Health & Safety Committee
Phoenix Health and Safety Committees meet once a month at each of the Phoenix facilities. Their job is to talk about any Health and Safety related issues that have happened or may happen during the month and also how to prevent these from happening. The people that attend these meetings are the Facility Manager, all the Staff Safety Representatives and Employee Safety Representatives.
Health & Safety Representatives
At each Phoenix facility there are people who help keep your workplace safe. These people are known as Health and Safety Representatives. Each area has an elected Employee Representative (that means you choose who you want to represent you). Their job is to answer your health and safety questions, let the supervisor know (with your help) that something at work is dangerous and to carry out inspections. Health and Safety Representatives only have the job for three (3) years, after which time they must be re-elected.
Toolbox talks
Toolbox Talks are talks between your Supervisor, you and your co-workers on health and safety or any other production issue. At these talks you can ask questions on any issue in the workplace and also make suggestions. The talks are held in each department monthly and cover different topics each time.
Dress Standards
Being dressed in suitable work clothes and having a neat appearance are important. Your hairstyle, clothing and jewellery must not cause any safety problems. To dress neatly and tidily is a way of showing your pride in yourself and your job.
